default settings for ViVa waveform viewer

Is there any way to change/define default settings for ViVa waveform viewer? I usually start my simulations with a script instead of directly via ADE-L and view the results using the standalone ViVa viewer.

As I typically want to save the plots for embedding in reports, I need to make the traces fatter ("bold") which is very painful if one has to do it by hand for all the curves. 

How can I change this so that the traces are plotted bold by default? I'd also be glad to know what other settings I can modify at ViVa startup.

Problem with Orcad Capture CIS Lite Demo Software

Hi all!

I'm currently learning Orcad and I'm using the Orcad 16.6 Demo Software (All Products) I downloaded here. But I can not use the Orcad Flow Tutorial. I'm using vista and so I dunno if that affects it. Right now I am following the tutorial summary instead. But I was stoppped because I need to add bipolar.olb but I can't locate it in my system. Are there any other else that I need to install before using the Orcad like the starter library catalog?

When i do checkRoute..following message is seen

"several (1) nets have antennas or data inconsistencies

all 1074695 nets 4581405 terms of cell top_design are properly connected"

 So can any one explain this........??

Drill symbols missing on certain symbols??? Help needed!

 I have a design that I re-used a previous design.  I loaded the new logic and started placing the components that were not already on the board, HOWEVER, even though the symol is exactly as the old one (jmpr2; a 2 pin jumper), all the "new ones" are misiing the nc drill symbol for the pins.

Any ideas why?  How to fix?

 Hi All,

Would you please kindly point out what did I do wrong in few lines of code below?

My objective is to acquire file name of browser, pass it to IDF_IN fuction. My variable
"file_name" is recongized by axlUIViewFileCreate() function but is not recognized
by axlRunBatchDBProgram(....-d PTC) option. How should I handle that variable?

Any effort is much appreciated.

hello, 

i need to design pcb for the power amplifier circuit with ADL5324.i am totally new to this software.can someone help me out to with this.what should be the considerations taken care while designing a the pcb.The required board should be surface mounted.What are the real functionalities of capture? Do we need to be specific,like the parts used are surface mount right from the begining,while working with the schematics. or is it specified while selecting the footprint in layout.please help me.

PSS analysis Vs Transient Simulation

hiiiiii

 I have designed a Push pull power amplifer to deliverd a 500uwatt power to 50 ohm antenna.

the problem what i ma facing is that- when i am doing transient simulation and plotting the power at 50 ohm load i am getting 500uwatt power but when i am doing PSS analysis and plotting the output power it is showing 250uWatt. why this is so..

and what analysis should i do for efficiency and power added efficiency calculation.

getting footrint error in orcad 9.2

 hi;
i made a simple power supply circuit in orcad9.2 capture cis and after that i assign footprints to the components from existing liabraries and then made its netlist and open it in layout but in layout it give me the following compilation errors for most of the components:

electrical package cap_pol for comp c5 has at least one pin (2).
which has no corresponding pin on footprint CPLCY/D.275/LS125/.034

I am getting this kind of errors for most of the components used in schemetic. i am new to orcad and want the help of experts.

is it necessary to create my own footprints in layout and assign it to the components used?
i am now assigning the existing footprints to the components.
moreover i think it is drawback of orcad that it has no predefined assignment for the components as proteus have.

kindly guide me about that.

SPEF differ between timeDesign and extractRC

Hi Bob & Kari 

I did the following things,why the spef from "timeDesign -signoff -si" is different to the spef from "extractRC".

1. spef_01.spef.gz (one way)

setExtractRCMode -engine postRoute -effortLevel signoff -coupled true -lefTechFileMap qrc.layermap

timeDesign -signoff -si

so,the spef file "spef_01.spef.gz" will be extracted.

 2. spef_02.spef.gz (another way)

setExtractRCMode -engine postRoute -effortLevel signoff -coupled true -lefTechFileMap qrc.layermap

extractRC

so,the spef file "spef_02.spef.gz" will be extracted.

but,why there are slight difference between "spef_01.spef.gz" and "spef_02.spef.gz" and which is more suitable to use?

what does the template 'METRIC.TCH' stands for? if the dimensions of the required board is in mils is there any problems if we choose millimeters in the schematic page properties.? how can we choose the technology template in layout?What are the things that must be kept in mind while working in layout?kindly help me:)

Allegro PCB Design 16.5, Unable to set value of constraints manager

I can't edit Physical & Spacing constraints value since some spreadsheets were read-only state as shown in below screenshot.

How can I solve this problem?

And is there any way to give "read-only" property to Objects of spreadsheets in CNS manager?
